Dear Reader
A new report from experts at the Washington University
School of Medicine finds that if you're regularly active,
you're a third less likely to develop polyps that can
turn into bowel cancer.
A colon polyp is a growth on the colon (large intestine),
and you can have one or more of them. Flat polyps can
be smaller and tougher to see, and are often more likely
to be cancerous. Polyps are more likely if you eat a
lot of fatty foods, smoke, drink alcohol, shun exercise
and therefore weigh more than you should.

how much offers a protective factor against this invasive
disease:

It's the latest in pampering... fish pedicures - dunking
your feet into a warm water filled tank of Garra Rufa (a
toothless carp) fish that nibble away dead skin cells. They're
very meticulous and don't miss a thing, and leave the skin
of the feet (or hands) amazingly soft. Experts are checking
into the safety of these unconventional procedures after
worries that this bit of pampering might spread infection.

Fish Pedicure Safety Called into Question...
Most Americans have hearts that aren't so healthy by the
time they reach middle age, especially African American
ones according to some new research out of the University
of Pittsburg School of Medicine.
In fact, only one out of every 1,933 study participants evaluated met the American
Heart Association's criteria for ideal cardiovascular health. Surprising to researchers
since these subjects had volunteered to take
part in a study looking into healthy hearts.

Poor Heart Health In Middle Age...
Belief is powerful, and a new bit of research finds that
what you expect about a medication might just affect how
well that drug works for you.
Study participants who take an inert substance (sugar pill,
distilled water, saline solution), believing it to be a medication,
and benefit, have experienced what researchers call the "placebo
effect". The more you believe you're going to benefit, the
better the chances are that you will actually see a tangible
benefit.
A new study finds that the opposite might also be the case - dubbed the 'nocebo'
effect.
