How To Tell If You're Aging Normally...
Dear Reader,
There's no escape from aging. It is a natural process that brings some changes - grey hairs, a more rounded body shape, sleep interruptions, a little morning stiffness... all signs that the years are catching up with us.
What you want to be aware of, and report right away to your doctor, are symptoms that come on suddenly, or any pain - these are the red flags to watch for according to Marie Bernard, MD, a deputy director at the National Institute on Aging.
Most people reach their peak functionality at about 30 years old. How soon after that you'll start to see age-related changes in your sensory perceptions, strength or stamina depends on your personal health choices, your full medical history and genetics explains Kenneth Minaker, MD who is the chief of geriatric Medicine at Mass General Hospital and a professor of medicine at Harvard. He suggests we think of aging not as a failure of body systems, but rather as a life saving process where the body adapts to prevent cancers that would otherwise take hold.
Here are some of the most common aging complaints, and tips on when to schedule a visit to your doctor.
- Change in vision - after age 40, nearly everyone needs reading glasses, if your vision suddenly gets worse, blurred or you experience vision loss, such a sudden change needs to be investigated. Cataracts can be to blame, as could glaucoma or macular degeneration.
- Hearing loss - almost a third of those over age 60 experience some loss of hearing, with men being the more likely candidates. If you have pain, drainage from either ear or a quick loss (within the week) of hearing, you need to be sure this isn't a sign of tumor growth or a brewing infection. If the hearing in one ear is noticeably worse than the other, a checkup is also in order.

How To Tell If You're Aging Normally... Continued...
- Less strength/stamina - as we age, our muscles become more
rigid, less toned, and we lose some muscle tissue. Organs lose their stamina
too... and it's the aging of the heart that makes it so much harder to exercise
vigorously... like you could when you were in your 20s and 30s. Keeping up some
aerobic activity, even walking, is enough to help improve your stamina. If you
have chest pain, with dizziness, shortness of breath, nausea or fainting, these
are serious symptoms you should not ignore. Call 911.
- High blood pressure - more than half of those over age 60
have high blood pressure, one of the problems that you become more vulnerable
to as the years pass. Eating a low salt diet, staying active and keeping your
weight at a healthy level can all work to improve your odds of keeping your blood
pressure in a healthy level.
- Memory loss - while some memory lapses are normal, if forgetfulness
is impacting your daily living, that's a call for action. We know that the processing
of information slows as we age, and the older we get the more trouble we have
multitasking. The red flag is an inability to learn and hold onto new information,
trouble with language or recognizing everyday things.
In the end, aging is inevitable. In fact, by the year 2030, almost one out of
every five Americans will be age 65, or over.
To your good health,
Kirsten Whittaker

Fortune 500 companies make their money by people like you and I buying their products.
But how do they know what we want to buy? Easy they pay to find out the products we like, where we shop and what we buy.
In a nutshell big businesses need people to tell them what products to make.
People like Michelle McAllister - a 34 year old full-time mother of two. Michelle and many others help "big business" make millions, although they haven't got any marketing or sales experience.
In fact Michelle knows absolutely nothing about business, but she does know what she likes...
And that's exactly the information these companies are after and will pay you for.
