Women Tell A Cheater by Looks Alone
Dear Reader,
Get this... according to a paper published recently in the journal Biology Letters, women can tell with good accuracy if an unfamiliar male is faithful to his partner just by looking at his face. Men seem to lack the same ability when looking at women. These findings are the results of a study from the University of Western Australia that sought to examine this most intimate of judgments in an attempt to answer the question; can you look at a guy and tell if he'll cheat on you?
The research, the first of its kind to successfully tie impressions of cheating with facial features, included 68 heterosexual subjects (34 men, 34 women) who looked at photos of 189 Caucasian adult faces of opposite sex people and were asked to rate them for faithfulness and trustworthiness. The answers were compared to the self-reported sexual history of the 189 people in the photos. The researchers found that the female participants were better able (failing only 38% of the time) to tell who was faithful by looking at a picture.
So it seems there's a kernel of truth in the idea that a woman can tell, by a look, who will make a better mate. Men however, don't seem to have a clue. They tended o see attractive, feminine females as unfaithful and failed 77% of the time to be right in their assessment. Maybe a woman's face doesn't give clues on infidelity, or maybe men just miss them.
The study, led by Gillian Rhodes from the ARC Centre of Excellence in Cognition and its Disorders at the University of Western Australia, points out that it wasn't attractive looks but rather how masculine a man looked that signaled he was thought to be more likely to be unfaithful or have a sexual history of infidelity.
In the research paper the authors report that faithfulness in sexual relationships and mate choice is important to females. The cost of choosing an unfaithful partner is significant. Men who have partners who stray risk raising another man's offspring, while a woman with an unfaithful mate risks being denied parental rights and losing other resources to competitors.

Women Tell A Cheater by Looks Alone Continued...
While many women are aware of the most obvious signs of cheating - attention to or an increase in grooming, being withdrawn and/or argumentative, making or receiving private phone calls and sudden/frequent absences - facial features are a surprising addition to the list. According to a piece in Essence magazine, a Miami researcher has found that the company a man keeps can say a lot about his faithfulness. Get this... 77% of men who cheat have either best buddies or perhaps fathers and older brothers, who also are unfaithful to their significant others. It's what they know... all they know.
A survey by a website that serves as a highly successful dating service for married people gives us more info on the regular cheater. Website AshleyMadison.com has created a profile of what a cheating man might be like. A man in his 40s, married for over 10 years with kids over the age of 10 and most likely working in fields like engineering, law, medicine, finance and even education. Yikes, this suggests that school teachers can't be trusted. And it omits politicians and celebrities altogether.
So while the look of a man's shoes might give you clues to how much he makes, his hands a suggestion of the size of his most private parts, we women now have research to back the idea that a man's face can give important clues to if he'll be faithful (or a rat) as a mate.
To your good health,
